MEMBER SINCE - February, 2016
I am currently a paralegal student, but applying to graduate school to pursue a career in public policy analysis. I want to change the world through policy. Ultimately, I would like to have a career that allows me to pursue my passions in the office, and out. While serving elementary-school children on a Spring Break Mission Trip during my sophomore year of high school, I was troubled by the amount of children stuck in orphanages or in foster homes who are never adopted. The idea that some children age out of the foster system and may never have a permanent support system breaks my heart. As a member of Best Buddies in high school my life was enriched by those of my peers who happen to have "disabilities." I was truly inspired by my classmates and my buddies and really believe that those buddies brought more joy to my life than I could have ever imagined. I think that RODS is a perfect fit for me. I am started my fitness journey on July 27, 2015 and am looking to increase my community in fitness. Additionally, at the 2016 Grammy's Stevie Wonder said that all things should be accessible to people with "disabilities." I believe this includes making sure that the adoption process is accessible to those with Down's Syndrome and those families wishing to adopt these wonderful children. By racing for the RODS Team, I am helping to raise awareness, as well as funds for adoption grants!
